I just want to write a quick note about playing apples to apples, because I just played it last night with a whole lot of people.
First off: I LOVE that game!
Secondly: do not attempt to enjoy this game with 10 people!
That is just plain too many people to play one game of apples to apples! There is a lot of fun stuff that goes on in the game- one of my favorite parts is the creative ways people come up with to tie their red cards into the green ones.
i.e.
The green card was "classic," and some of the choices put down were,
"Steven Spielburg," "the Renaisance" "marriage" etc. etc.
As you can imagine, when ten of these clever cards were put down, everyone had to put up their argument for why theirs should win. There were two times when this would happen: when their card was revealed, and when the card was rejected. When we had the "classic" card, and "The Renaisance was turned over, the response was, "Classic was a time period in the Renaisance!" but then, when it was rejected, the person that put down the card would say something like, "WHAAA??!?!? You would turn over the Renaisance? How can you get more classic than that?! You can't keep Steven Spielburg and turn over the Renaisance!!!"
poor losers...
(and, no, my card was not Renaisance, it was Marriage. And, yes, it did get rejected on that round)
Anyway when you have all other 9 people making calls out like that, (which, begets conversations on the sidelines, when others have strong opinions on the subject, or other witty things to say) the game gets noisy and hard to play.
